PROCESS

1. Lay out five different types of business or five different situations.

2. Obtain a single Random Word.

3. Show how this word links back or connects to each of the businesses or situations that have been laid out.

* * *

NOTE: The ‘link back’ should be significant. For example, the word is ‘light switch’. It would not be enough to say that all businesses have buildings and all buildings have light switches in them.

EXAMPLE

The Five Types of Business are: life insurance; motor car sales; travel agent; restaurant; private school.

The Random Word is: PASSPORT.

Thoughts:

… a form of passport that a person carries that lists all his insurance policies, etc., especially relating to accidents and disasters

… a formal record of the performance and servicing of a motor car – a sort of passport for the car that indicates when servicing is needed, etc.

… a second passport held by the travel agent, who can then obtain visas as needed even when the person is travelling

… a record that a restaurant keeps for regular customers listing the dishes and wines they have had and enjoyed

… ‘passport’ suggests overseas. So the school should make an effort to attract students from all over the world
